The problem I have with a lot of academia is the fact that it seems to be allergic to plain English. Yes, “the Black Panthers taught dialectical materialism to people who could barely read.” That’s because the concept of dialectical materialism is pretty simple as long as you don’t ramble about it for 400,000 paragraphs.

“We can have (good thing A) and (bad thing A), or (bad thing B) and (good thing B), or we could make fucking sense and have (good thing A) and (good thing B).” There. Dialectical materialism. The rest just kind of falls into place as soon as you start thinking about it for twelve seconds.

Or, to put it in a more intellectual way:
Thesis: Smart ideas explained so that nobody can understand them
Antithesis: Stupid ideas that are at least explained so that people can understand them
Synthesis: Smart ideas explained so that people can understand them

All those anti-intellectual anarchists are getting so angry at the thesis that they’ve become the antithesis, and meanwhile nobody’s offering a god damned synthesis.
