    That would explain the increasingly powerful sense I have that no one is really at the helm of government …

    If I had a dollar for every time I encountered the concept of the “liberal elite,” in which “elite” is meant to negate or discredit “liberal,” I would be rich. Never could figure out where that notion came from.
